Molecular Formula: Na3PO4.12H2O Molecular Weight: 380.14
CAS No.: 10101-89-0 EINECS NO.: 231-509-8
Properties: Colorless to white acicular crystals. Relative density 1.62 g/cm³ (20°C); melting point 73.3–76.7°C (with decomposition). Begins melting and partially loses water of crystallization at 35.1°C. Readily soluble in water (solubility: 140–258 g/L at 20°C); insoluble in organic solvents including ethanol and carbon disulfide. Efflorescent in dry air, complete dehydration to anhydrous trisodium phosphate (Na₃PO₄) at 100°C, decomposes to sodium pyrophosphate (Na₄P₂O₇) at 250°C, 1% aqueous solution: strongly alkaline (pH 11.5–12.5),resulting in high alkalinity.
Application:
1. Water Treatment: Boiler water softener, chelates calcium (Ca²⁺) and magnesium (Mg²⁺) ions to prevent scale formation; regulates pH to 9.0–10.0 in formulations, protecting metal pipelines.
2.Cooling system corrosion inhibitor: Reduces corrosion and extends equipment service life.
3.Metal Processing: Electroplating bath buffer: Enhances coating corrosion resistance. Metal rust inhibitor.
4.Textiles & Dyeing: Fabric mercerizing enhancer
5.Dyeing color-fixing agent: Improves dye affinity.
6.Other Industrial Applications: Enamel fluxing agent, leather degreasing agent, flame retardant (suppresses combustion via endothermic dehydration)
7. Daily Chemical Products: Cleaning agent component (e.g., detergents, scouring powders)
8. Laboratory Applications: Analytical reagent (e.g., water hardness testing), buffer solution preparation.
Packing and storage: Highly hygroscopic – requires strict moisture-proof storage; light-sensitive – protection from light is recommended. 25kg,1000kg PP PE bag
Shelf life: 2 years
