Molecular Formula: Li2CO3 Molecular Weight: 73.89
CAS No.:554-13-2 EINECS No.:209-062-5
Properties: White crystalline powder or colorless monoclinic crystals; odorless with slight alkaline taste. Density is 2.11 g/cm³; melting point 723°C; decomposes at ~1230°C (to Li₂O and CO₂). Slightly soluble in water (solubility decreases with rising temperature); Soluble in dilute acids;Insoluble in ethanol, acetone, and other organic solvents.Alkalinity: Aqueous solution is alkaline, hydrolyzing to LiOH and H₂CO₃.
Application:
1. New Energy Batteries
Cathode Material Synthesis: Battery-grade lithium carbonate (Li₂CO₃ ≥99.5%, Fe ≤0.0007%): Used to produce lithium iron phosphate (LFP), medium/low-nickel ternary materials (NCM/NCA), lithium cobalt oxide (LCO), etc.
High-purity lithium carbonate: Applied in high-nickel ternary batteries and solid-state electrolytes to enhance energy density and cycle life.
2.Traditional Industrial Fields
Glass & Ceramics : Fluxing agent-Reduces glass melting temperature (saves 10–15% energy); increases ceramic density and mechanical strength.
Specialty glass: For rear-projection TV screens and optical lenses (high light transmittance requirements).
Lubricants: Additive for high-temperature greases (aerospace, nuclear industries).
Metallurgy: Aluminum electrolysis additive to improve conductivity and current efficiency.
Packaging&Storage: 25 kg PP PE bags; stored under conditions of "sealed, dry, light-proof, low-temperature, acid-isolated". Battery-grade products require stricter controls (4–8°C with humidity ≤30%).
