Properties: White or colorless crystal, MKP is easily soluble in water, relative density at 2.34g/cm³, melting point at 252.6℃ to form potassium pyrophosphate (K₂H₂P₂O₇), and at 400°C yields potassium metaphosphate (KPO₃), and pH value of 1% solution is 4.4-4.7.

Application:

1. Industrial and Materials field

A. Piezoelectric Crystal Materials: MKP crystals (KH₂PO₄) is used for laser frequency conversion (e.g., Nd:YAG laser doubling) and electro-optic modulators.

B. Food and Pharmaceuticals

Food grade: Acidity regulator (INS 340i), emulsifying salt (cheese products).

Pharmaceutical buffer: Prepares stable buffer systems (pH 4.0–5.5) for injections/culture media.

C. Flame Retardant Synergist: Enhances fire resistance when compounded with ammonium polyphosphate (promotes charring, reduces toxic smoke).

2.New Energy and Environmental Protection

A. Precursor for Li-ion Battery Cathodes: Phosphorus source for synthesizing lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄), requiring ≥99.9% purity.

B. Water Treatment Agent: Corrosion/scale inhibition, suppressing CaCO₃ scaling in cooling water (synergizes with zinc salts).

Usage Precautions:

Crystal Growth---Use ultrapure water for electronic-grade products; control crystallization temperature (40–60°C).
